Job description

The Director of Sales & Marketing reports directly to the President and plays a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the annual sales and marketing strategy for RED Mountain Resort. As the steward of the RED brand, this role is both strategic and hands-on—responsible for growing brand awareness, increasing visitation across winter and summer seasons, and driving revenue through innovative, integrated initiatives.

This position leads the charge in expanding RED’s footprint in the ski and mountain tourism industries through hands-on foundational marketing programs, brand partnerships, and product strategies that successfully grow mountain visitation in the winter and new RED Mountain Bike Park in the summer. The Director will both create new and evolve / broaden existing initiatives, including content development, pricing strategies, guest acquisition tactics, and partnership models—while championing the RED brand voice across all consumer and industry-facing channels.

The wage rate for this position is $100,000-$120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

MAJOR RESPONSBILITIES

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and lead the annual Sales & Marketing Plan with a four-season mindset.
  • Build and manage the fiscal year Sales & Marketing budget.
  • Collaborate closely with RED’s President, GM, CFO, and internal stakeholders to align goals and operations.
  • Maintain professional visibility for RED through key industry events, organizations, and corporate relationships.
  • Manage investor communications and engagement for RED’s “Fight the Man. Own the Mountain” D-Class Shareholders.

Brand Stewardship & Creative Direction

  • Serve as the guardian of RED’s brand identity and voice across all guest-facing platforms.
  • Ensure brand tone, visuals, and messaging are consistently applied across all departments and channels.
  • Maintain and evolve RED’s brand guidelines and “brand book,” with the Brand & Web Manager, ensuring all content aligns with RED’s brand muses, mission, and voice.
  • Ensure RED’s inter-departments visually align with overall RED brand standards, including but not limited to : Piste Off Supply Co retail merchandise, inter-department branding, menu signage, etc.
  • Develop and execute resort-wide winter and summer marketing campaigns that drive visitation and brand engagement.
  • Oversee strategy and calendar for all RED events and ticket / pass product promotional campaigns.
  • Lead content strategy and production planning, including overseeing of contractors (photographers, videographers, etc.) with the Sales & Marketing Manager
  • Support and oversee strategy and activation schedules for social media platforms.
  • Write and edit campaign content in RED’s signature voice and supervise external copywriters to ensure tone consistency.
  • Direct RED’s paid digital advertising strategy, execution, and performance management (social, display, retargeting, etc.).
  • Oversee RED’s web presence and lead strategies to optimize user experience, SEO, content, and conversions.
  • Guide RED’s email marketing strategy including automation, segmentation, promotions, and ongoing engagement campaigns.

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Work with Red Mountain Resort Lodging to develop and support Group Sales strategy.
  • Direct wholesale and tour operator communications—managing updates on pricing, policy, and partnership opportunities.
  • Lead and grow third-party marketing and sales partnerships (e.g., brands, retailers, accommodators, content creators, tourism associations (Destination British Columbia, Kootenay Rockies, Mountain Bike BC, etc).
  • Develop cross-department promotional strategies for resort products around both summer and winter : The Constella Cabins, RED Ski and Snowboard School, RED Sports, Piste Off Supply Co., Red Mountain Resort Lodging, Mt. Kirkup Cat Skiing, Rafters Bar, Nowhere Special Hostel

KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education / Certifications

  • University Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar Director role with similar responsibilities and skill requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in digital marketing, online marketing trends, and brand development
  • Minimum 5 years successful track record of planning, testing, launching, optimizing and measuring multi-level marketing campaigns and sales strategies.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in social media and digital marketing
  • Ski industry experience a major bonus

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced ski or snowboard ability.

Skills and Abilities

  • Results-oriented, creative, and driven individual who has exceptional organizational, communication, grammar and writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess strong strategic thinking and strong industry knowledge while also holding quantitative skills and a belief that data is essential to successful marketing.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively and move seamlessly between acquisition marketing, content creation, and customer-appropriate messaging.
  • Able to work in a fast-moving team environment as an excellent and flexible team player.
  • Provide leadership, growth opportunities, and clear direction and support for the Sales and Marketing team
  • Proficient in budget-management skills.
  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges.
