Compensation Details:

  • Partnerships 20:$127,380 – $180,000

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office2days per week.
  • This role will be performed from EDC’s Headquarters in Ottawa or one of the community hubs in Montreal or Toronto.

Team & Job Overview:

The Partnerships team is accountable for corporate & regional level relationship management, driving results through a win-win-win approach with domestic & international financial institutions (FI), private-equity firms, alternative lenders and other Private, Government and Association organizations. The team develops and executes corporate & regional level strategies, and channel tactics to maximize the business potential in support to Canadian Exporters. This is achieved by developing trusted partnerships and established networks with key internal/external stakeholders to optimize partner priorities with the goal to diversify EDC’s solution suite within the market.

What you will be doing:

  • Accountable for developing & implementing a national vision and plan for the region function of the Partnerships team in Canada that ensures relevant partnership management responsibilities, market/sector coverage, go-to-market tactics, allocation of appropriate resources, and the establishment of business targets & budgets
  • Leads a team of experienced Business Development professionals across Canada that is responsible and accountable for Partnership relationship management, business results and integration with EDC’s Partnership ecosystem in core Regions
  • Supports team members to engage and influence collaboration with senior leaders in the ecosystem to increase mutual collaboration across their business units and shape more opportunities for Canadian companies to succeed in their international business growth
  • Ensures the team:
    • deeply understands the partner, goals, shifts in priorities and mandate
    • continually gathers and shares market intelligence across various sectors through external interactions to develop opportunities and services/products customized to partners needs
    • contributes to and advances customer-centric solutions through collaboration with EDC product and innovation teams
    • Facilitates the performance and skill/career development of team members to ensure the team has adequate support, capacity and capability to address the needs of the organization
  • Builds and maintains effective long-term relationships with Canadian FIs, alternative lenders and other Private, Government and Association organizations
  • Closely collaborates across the wider Partnerships group and with internal stakeholders to coordinate prioritization of initiatives and support of partnerships
  • Ability to be the champion of the team and Partnership groups, and lead the team through change and continuous improvement of the team’s management processes and practices
  • Uses EDC systems and processes to ensure appropriate level of governance, and track & measure progress and performance of team and partner objectives/ KPIs
  • Reports to RVP, Partnerships

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 5 years of direct people leadership experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in business development in senior Commercial Banking, Trade Finance role and/or financial services in Canada and/or internationally
  • Experience in leading regional-level and/or corporate-level initiatives in a matrixed environment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstration of strong strategic mindset, influencing skills and relationship management
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
  • Frequent travel across Canada

Assets:

  • Experience with B2B partnership management – including regional or corporate-level negotiations, product launches and/or execution on joint KPIs with Financial Institutions and/or government partners
  • Knowledge of financial institution commercial credit and lending practices
  • Knowledge of international business practices and international trade
  • Strong understanding of EDC’s value proposition and solutions
  • Compelling storytelling abilities to communicate vision, strategy, objectives and plans
