Director, Real Estate
Overview:

Join our dynamic Real Estate team at Loblaw Companies Limited - Regional Office (3225 12st NE #100, Calgary, AB), where every day presents new opportunities and learning challenges. The incumbent will report to the Senior Director, Real Estate, and will be responsible for negotiating, leasing, and managing new store opportunities, dispositions, lease renewals, ancillary leasing, special projects, and more in Western Canada.

Duties:
  1. Evaluate and analyze new store locations and development opportunities in Western Canada's retail sector.
  2. Analyze and model the pro forma to determine the financial feasibility of new stores.
  3. Negotiate real estate agreements for new stores, expansions, replacements, conversions, and rightsizing.
  4. Establish and maintain relationships with developers and landlords in Western Canada.
  5. Prepare and present decks for the Real Estate Capital Meetings.
  6. Work directly with landlords and brokers to source new locations.
  7. Negotiate lease rates for upcoming lease renewals.
  8. Assist the store design, development, construction, and operation teams to ensure store openings are achieved on time.
Skills and Experience:
  1. Post-secondary education equivalent to a university degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Geography, Finance, Business, or related field.
  2. Five to seven years of experience in the commercial real estate sector.
  3. Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel, capable of creating executive-level presentation decks including charts and economic proformas.
  4. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with diverse personalities and styles.
  5. Strategic problem-solving abilities with supportable decision-making skills.
  6. Sound knowledge of financial data, lease documents, and retail market trends.
