Rare Dementia Support (RDS) Canada is a multi-component support community for people affected by rare dementia and a centre for rare dementia education and research. RDS Canada’s vision is for all individuals living with, affected by, or at risk of a diagnosis of rare dementia have access to information, tailored support and guidance and connect with others affected by similar conditions. Led by Nipissing University (NU), RDS Canada is funded by The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation.
Working closely with the Principal Lead, the Director will act as a project manager, providing operational leadership that aligns with RDS Canada’s mission and goals and the University’s strategic and operational objectives. The Director’s responsibilities support the development of the University as a national leader in translating knowledge discovery into initiatives that promote brain health across the life span, advance support delivery for good health and well-being for families affected by rare dementia, strengthen partnered advocacy to build evidence-informed and resilient systems of care and support, and develops NU as a student destination for education and research opportunities embedded within these activities.The Director will work closely with the University’s administrative departments to ensure sustainability of the Centre’s operations.
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, nursing, health administration, business administration, philanthropy, and non-profit leadership) and a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in positions demonstrating progression and increased responsibility at a senior level. If appropriate, registration in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body is also required.A criminal reference check with the vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
