Reporting to the AVP, Business Analytics, the Director, Prospect Pricing is responsible for the development and implementation of pricing strategies for new business, upsells and cross sells. This includes the creation, validation, and optimization of pricing models that balance profitability with market competitiveness. This role requires a deep understanding of financial modelling, and market analysis, and works closely with cross functional teams. Maintains a strong control environment while driving process improvement initiatives, and effectively executing on a variety of ad-hoc requests.
• Conduct financial reviews for purposes of new business and new product offerings, pricing proposals for retenders, provide impact of new upsell / cross-sell opportunities and ad-hoc analysis for various strategic initiatives to drive improvement to both revenues and profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, relationship management, and operations to gather relevant data and develop tailored pricing strategies by client and segment
• Ensure overall pricing models are aligned with the targeted corporate margins expected or forecasted
• Deliver informative business commentary on prospect pricing and market trends to the senior leadership team and other key stakeholders, highlighting opportunities for growth and improvement, key impact analysis while flagging potential risk with sensitivity analysis for additional perspective where appropriate.
• Present key insights and financial narrative to senior leadership team on strategic outlook including key client-specific dashboards, large relationship analysis, trend & scenario analysis, variance analysis, and forward-looking projections/estimates by client and segment
• Analyze market trends, competitor pricing and client feedback to inform adjustments and refinements to the pricing models
• Conduct pricing scenario analysis to forecast the impact of pricing strategy and different assumptions
• Lead and partner with senior leaders in Finance, Operations, Technology, Legal, HR and other business units to work cross-functionally and use data insights to present strategic recommendations in an effort to drive better decision-making across the organization
• Maintain a strong control environment and provide on-going coaching and feedback to team members in order to deliver value add analytics and reporting services.
Specific Knowledge & Skills
• Minimum 8 years experience in a corporate finance in a large financial services organization with relevant experience in pricing strategy, financial modelling, with focus on new client pricing.
• University degree in Finance or Accounting with a professional accounting designation and/or MBA.
• Strong prioritization, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills.
• Strong background in analyzing market trends, and competitor pricing
• Refined communication skills essential with peers, internal partners and management.
• Ability to effectively synthesize large amounts of ambiguous/un-structured data to provide value add analysis, reporting and support strategy development, monitoring and refinements.
• Skilled in creating insightful management reports and presentations for senior executives and board of directors.
