Worley Canada Construction is seeking a Director of Project Controls for our growing team to work from our Edmonton Home Office.

Position Summary

This role involves directing and managing all Project Controls activities, including scheduling, budgeting, cost control, risk management, and reporting. The successful candidate will oversee the project controls team.

  • Develop project-specific PC execution strategies
  • Establish standards for advanced Project Controls reporting (cost, progress, earned value, resource, benchmarking, etc.)
  • Create procedures for project control activities like budget preparation, cash flow, forecasts, progress tracking, change management, and scheduling
  • Chair monthly project status review meetings
  • Provide guidance in Cost Management, Schedule Development, Earned Value Management, Change Management, and Forecasting
  • Manage cost activities including cost control systems, invoice processing, monthly reporting, trending, FAC analysis, variance analysis, budgets, and cash flows
  • Oversee planning & scheduling, including schedule development, progress monitoring, deviations, and solutions
  • Manage resource allocation for project controls, including recruitment and training
  • Facilitate risk assessment, mitigation, and contingency planning
  • Coordinate and distribute project reports on progress, cost, and schedule
  • Ensure integration of estimating, cost control, scheduling, and risk management functions
  • Track and confirm invoices, ensuring proper handoff to Accounts Payable
  • Advise senior leaders on project controls issues
Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in industrial construction or maintenance, specializing in project controls, preferably with general contracting experience
  • Experience leading project controls teams
  • Experience with large-scale oil/gas and petrochemical EPFC projects
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting
  • Experience setting up progress trackers for key commodities
  • Proficiency in tracking and reporting engineering and construction progress
  • Leadership skills in managing planning, scheduling, and cost control activities
  • Ability to analyze cost and schedule reports
  • Experience with SRA and CRA processes
  • Knowledge of Primavera, Power BI, Ecosys, and cost control systems
  • Strong technical competence and interpersonal skills
