Position Description:
Ensuring that academic programs meet their Ministerial quality assurance requirements is a core mandate of the college, and of this role, The Director, Program Quality will provide cross-college leadership in advancing and advocating for institution-wide academic excellence in support of the College's Strategy and Vision. This role champions quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with provincial standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides high-level strategic guidance to senior leaders on accreditation processes, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Provides executive leadership in the establishment and governance of the mandatory program review framework for all college programs, ensuring full compliance with the Minister’s Binding Policy Directive, Section F, Quality Assurance.
- Develops and directs the annual and multi-year program review schedule, aligning divisional and college-wide priorities to maintain institutional excellence and continuous improvement.
- Designs and governs degree program review guidelines and processes, incorporating internal leadership and program teams as well as external subject matter specialists. Ensures alignment with all Ministry of Colleges and Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) and Post-Secondary Education Quality Assurance Branch (PEQAB) program quality requirements.
- Consults with senior executives to shape strategy for program quality assurance and academic innovation.
- Provides senior-level interpretation and guidance to the College community on academic policies, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and regulatory frameworks.
- Chairs the Academic Policy Review Committee and leads project management for policy development, renewal processes, and ensures adherence to established timelines and regulatory compliance standards.
- Establishes and refines the institution-wide academic integrity framework, ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements, regulatory standards and best practices. Designs the Standards of Practice for Academic Integrity procedures.
- Serves as the primary representative on academic integrity matters, liaising with external agencies, government bodies, and professional organizations (e.g. ICAI, PEQAB).
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in related field.
- Minimum nine (9) years of supervisory experience, working within a post-secondary institutional setting.
- Knowledge of Provincial Ministry and sector program development, approval, funding, and delivery requirements.
- Previous experience leading and/or writing PEQAB consent renewal reports.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Working knowledge of the systems and processes within the College.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Teams, and Planner or similar project management software.
- Demonstrated understanding of academic quality assurance processes and models, and of the implications of and fundamental principles of academic policy and procedural fairness.
- Demonstrated understanding of curriculum requirements and the curriculum development process at all credential levels.
- Familiarity with OCQAS/CVS, PEQAB and MCURES degree and program standards and processes.
Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated excellence in managing and coordinating complex projects through to completion using project management software.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and work effectively with project teams and staff.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities in managing teams and in negotiation, conflict/issue resolution.
- Excellent English writing skills; demonstrated ability to synthesize information and to draft complex documents.
- Ability to prioritize under competing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to lead and participate in consultative decision-making, with a diversity of people and situations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
Please note: As this is a hybrid role, a minimum of 2 days per week are required on campus.
Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
