Job Summary:

Translate the company’s and the PVA vision and mission by executing the strategy provided by Global Professional Veterinary Affairs. Deliver Hill’s programs focused on all parts of the veterinary profession (schools, students, KTLs, practicing veterinarians—general and specialist—and their teams, trade & professional associations, RVTs, as well as internal audiences). Leverage these programs to drive growth in the Canadian commercial organization and accomplish the yearly KPI/goals set by the division and the country’s GM, leading to:

  • Strong, positive, professional impression of Hill’s company, its people, products, and services
  • Continued scientific leadership of Hill’s in Canada
  • Leadership in active veterinary team endorsement through world-class KTL and customer relationship management
  • Continued market share and top and bottom line growth
  • Well-informed and educated senior leadership team and local expanded commercial team
  • Focused, well-coached, and developed local PCV team across the local market

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Localize and lead execution of the Global PVA strategy to drive growth and veterinary recommendation. Lead the PVA team to engage with key stakeholders including:
  • Veterinary healthcare team (VCHT) members in clinical practice (DVMs, RVTs, support staff)
  • Key Thought Leaders (KTLs)
  • Veterinary corporate groups
  • Veterinary and RVT students
  • Recent graduates
  • Professional and trade associations

Ensure execution through ongoing coaching and development of the Canadian PVA team. Provide clear priorities and direction to ensure focus and execution. Direct reports include all Canadian PCVs, Associate PVA Manager (APVAM), and Professional Strategic Initiatives Manager (PSIM). Represent the profession as a member of the Canadian Leadership team, providing insight on topics related to nutrition, the veterinary profession, and local regulatory topics.

Ensure all contacts and communications meet professional, ethical, and regulatory standards (CP Code of Conduct, FCPA, anti-bribery, pet food regulations). Oversee technical & scientific affairs, including updating technical product data, training, seminars, Congresses, and approval of marketing materials. Coordinate the country's technical helpline.

Adapt and oversee the execution of strategies for veterinary and RVT schools, professional associations, and KTLs. Lead the rollout of educational programs and digital strategies, ensuring full implementation and increased engagement. Manage the country PVA budget, ensuring compliance and integration with the broader commercial organization. Collaborate with Global PVA to align strategies and share best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in veterinary medicine (DVM)
  • Valid North American Veterinarian License
  • Digital aptitude
  • 4+ years experience in veterinary practice or similar
  • 3+ years of team/people management experience
  • Established network within the veterinary community, including local associations
  • Knowledge of the pet food industry
  • Business and practice management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or similar business qualification
  • French language skills (written and oral)
  • Experience with Hill’s or other veterinary organizations

Expected travel: Up to 75%
