Job Description

Salary Range: $142,000 - $178,500 annually (Vancouver only). The actual salary may vary based on experience and qualifications. This position is based in Vancouver or Calgary, with a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Portfolio
  • Oversee summer and articling student programs including recruitment, orientations, evaluations, hire-back placements, budgets, and educational initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Clients and Markets Team to develop and maintain the firm’s student recruitment website and promotional materials.
  • Develop and implement national student program policies, including exchanges, secondments, funding of moots, and other activities.
  • Support national initiatives as directed by the Chief Professional Resources Officer.
  • Act as the primary contact for the firm with Law Societies and law schools, managing funding, participation in career events, and expenditures.
Junior Associate Portfolio
  • Manage onboarding, performance, work allocation, and career progression.
  • Oversee mentor programs, wellness initiatives, departures, leaves, inter-office assignments, and role transitions.
  • Handle compensation, budgeting, and policy compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on student and Junior Associate programs and external professional groups.
  • Manage direct reports.
Candidate Profile:
  • Law degree with at least three years of legal practice experience, preferably in a large firm.
  • Experience in recruitment, mentoring, and management activities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and client service skills.
  • Flexible, discreet, and able to handle high-pressure situations and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills.
