The Role

The Director of Product and Procurement is a strategic leader responsible for optimizing inventory management and product lifecycle, sourcing high-quality donated and procured goods, and driving cost-effective procurement strategies. They ensure seamless product flow, sustainable waste diversion, and profitability improvements while fostering strong supplier and donor partnerships. With a focus on efficiency and sustainability, this role plays a key part in enhancing Talize’s mission of promoting circular products and delivering exceptional value to customers .

Duties and Responsibilities

Departmental Duties

Inventory and Procurement Management

  • Oversee inventory productivity, ensuring optimal inventory turnover rates and cost-effective procurement strategies.
  • Lead product sourcing, procurement expansion, and supplier partnerships to align with budget and revenue goals.
  • Implement waste diversion initiatives to maximize product recycling, upcycling, and sustainability practices.
  • Drive category profitability through strategic pricing, assortment planning, and cost control measures
  • Collaborate with logistics, supply chain, and compliance teams to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks
  • Oversee inventory turnover rates and ensure optimized inventory flow.
  • Manage product procurement strategies, including donated goods and vendor partnerships
  • Ensure cost-effective sourcing and control budgets to align with financial goals.

Process Optimization and Compliance

  • Develop and implement best practices for logistics and supply chain management.
  • Improve sustainability efforts, focusing on waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement and regulatory requirements.

Strategic Partnership and Performance Monitoring

  • Develop and manage corporate donation programs (B2B, B2C revenue opportunities)
  • Assess M&A opportunities that exists, by conducting comprehensive market research
  • Collaborate with suppliers and donors to drive growth in product sourcing.
  • Measure and improve waste diversion rates and sustainability impact.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive strategic outcomes.

Pricing and Product lifecycle management

  • Collaborate with analytics and pricing teams to set competitive, profitable price points.
  • Analyze market trends, customer demand, and competitor pricing to inform strategy.
  • Monitor product performance across all lifecycle stages and recommend pricing adjustments.
  • Support new product launches with pricing models and forecasts.
  • Align pricing with marketing, sales, and product strategies.
  • Maintain pricing tools and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and present insights to leadership.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or process optimization.
  • Experience in sustainability practices and waste reduction initiatives is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, compliance, and category management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and optimize business processes.
  • Category Management and Merchandising Experience
