The Custody Services Division is responsible for the implementation and operation of adult and youth offender services in Saskatchewan as defined by The Correctional Services Act, 2012 and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The Opportunity

The Custody Services Division is looking to fill the role of Director, Prince Albert Correctional Centre (PACC). PACC is a multi-security level custody facility for remanded and sentenced adult males located in Prince Albert, SK. PACC has an operational capacity of approximately 500 offenders. PACC also has oversight of the Prince Albert Men’s Reintegration Unit, which is a community-based program responsible for approximately 14 offenders.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Custody Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring a management team at PACC in support of the Ministry’s strategic plan for ensuring Safe Facilities, Safe Communities and Safe and Engaged Workplaces;
  • Ensuring the efficient and effective management of financial material including fiscal forecasting and budget documents;
  • Having knowledge of effective human resource and labor relations principles;
  • Analyzing existing structures and policies for efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Having knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system;
  • Understanding and supporting current research-based approaches for addressing the criminogenic needs of offenders; and
  • Collaborating with other Custody Services staff and with Ministry and community partners.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who has:

  • Proven leadership experience in a management role, preferably in a correctional or similar environment;
  • Knowledge of principles, standards, practices, jurisprudence, and trends in the Criminal Justice System, Corrections, and Institutional Operation;
  • Experience promoting employee engagement and a positive workplace culture;
  • Ability to demonstrate our core values with accountability and professionalism by always acting with honesty and integrity while treating everyone with dignity and respect;
  • Proficient in professionally managing broad aspects of human resources;
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with, and influence, a variety of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues and information;
  • Ability to seek opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement while actively involving colleagues;
  • Familiarity with government financial administration and budgeting processes;
  • Ability to collaborate with all employees of PACC to provide offenders with professional and ethical services for their safety and security, and offer services to strengthen their ability to live, work, and contribute to their community; and
  • Valid driver's license as some travel is required.
