Overview

We are looking for an eager and high performing individual to take on the role of Director, Pricing & Analysis, Savings & Investments. In this role, you will be responsible for recommending interest-bearing product pricing, monitoring the competitive environment, supporting the Pricing Exception Desk (PEATs), and preparing analysis. You will work closely with all members of the Savings & Investments team and numerous Functional Partners, including Retail Enablement, Finance, Corporate Treasury, Technology, Operations and Marketing. This is a high impact opportunity where the candidate will influence and shape how RBC competes in the Canadian deposit industry.

Responsibilities

Pricing Strategy Development

  • Provide thought leadership
  • Design pricing strategies for retail interest-bearing deposits to grow RBC market share and maximize profitability
  • Provide pricing recommendations to the Senior Director, Product, Plans, and Pricing and work to enable the implementation of those prices (rates)
  • Prepare financial analysis and forecasts to support recommendations and set the trajectory of the business
  • Deliver strategy and initiative updates to Savings and Investment leadership & Executives
  • Create a roadmap for next stage of differentiated pricing capabilities to have multiple pricing strategies for new acquisitions and renewals, across all channels
  • Work with other Line of Business pricing teams to share best practices, drive towards consistent pricing practices and share resources

Pricing Strategy Implementation

  • Effectively collaborate with the Acquisition, Retention, Distribution and Product teams, as well as key partners including Sales, Operations, Finance, Corporate Treasury, and through impact and influence, lead the implementation of new pricing strategies
  • Work closely with Sales partners and leadership to ensure appropriate Communication and Change Management tactics are put in place that will drive desired behaviours and ensure successful stakeholder management and adoption of pricing enhancements
  • Measure the effectiveness of pricing strategies by working with the Savings and Investments Team and use insights to drive strategy and process refinements

Pricing Initiatives & Technology Development

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve pricing functionality and related processes and champion the implementation of system enhancements
  • Design, plan and execute other pricing-related initiatives, collaborating with Term Investments and Savings teams and other partners
  • Transform RBC’s technical pricing capabilities for Investments & Savings in both the short term and long term by working with technology partners to drive the development and implementation of multiple challenger / champion pricing strategies that will enable client pricing based on multiple variables via every channel

Qualifications

Must have:

  • Expertise with financial forecasting, researching and synthesizing information about the macroeconomic environment, and interpreting market trends
  • Strong communication skills, including creating presentation materials for senior audiences, preparing thoughtful analysis, making recommendations, and debating courses of actions
  • Experience in making recommendations on product pricing (interest rates preferred), designing and recommending pricing strategies
  • Project management or coordination skills / experience
  • Undergraduate University Degree

Nice to have:

  • MBA or Math degree
  • Understanding of RBC distribution channels, strategies and methods
  • Background in developing and leading people
