Reports to : Western Canada Director, Post-Collection and Material Regeneration

Department : Recycle BC Operations

Direct Reports : Manager, Material Regeneration | Senior Supervisor, Receiving Facilities | Senior Supervisor, Depots & Logistics

Indirect Reports : Field Services Specialist, Post-Collection | Logistics Specialist | Commodity Marketing Specialist

Purpose of Position

The Director, Post-Collection leads Recycle BC’s reverse supply chain in BC—overseeing how materials are transported, processed, and marketed after collection. This includes building efficient vendor partnerships, maintaining compliance, and achieving operational and environmental targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of post-collection strategies that balance cost, efficiency, and material recovery across BC.
  • Manage all vendor relationships within the post-collection network—transporters, processors, consolidators—ensuring service quality and compliance.
  • Oversee and optimize post-collection logistics to ensure materials are moved and processed in alignment with program goals.
  • Monitor the chain of custody, enforce vendor standards, conduct audits, and ensure accurate data reporting.
  • Support the development of a commodity sales strategy that maximizes material value and prevents conflicts of interest.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Material Services to ensure timely, accurate inbound composition audits and supply chain reporting.
  • Lead post-collection performance reviews, focusing on continuous improvement and cost-effectiveness.
  • Guide contract negotiations with post-collection vendors and ensure terms are clearly defined and documented.
  • Oversee development and rollout of reporting tools, performance scorecards, and KPIs in collaboration with the Operations Support team.
  • Contribute to Recycle BC pilot projects and special initiatives requiring post-collection services.
  • Benchmark against industry best practices and innovations in recycling and material recovery.
  • Collaborate on budget planning, cost studies, and waste composition analyses.
  • Represent Recycle BC in external working groups and stakeholder meetings.

Internal Collaboration

  • Align closely with Directors of Operations and the VP Operations on commercial agreements and reporting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with finance, analytics, and business intelligence teams for budget planning and performance tracking.
  • Coordinate with SK Recycles and national programs to share insights and identify synergies.

External Relationships

  • Build relationships with local governments, First Nations, service providers, and industry associations.
  • Work with EPR programs, auditors, and external consultants to align on compliance, performance, and reporting standards.

Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervise a team of direct and indirect reports, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Manage third-party vendors and ensure contract compliance.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance against post-collection budget targets.

Qualifications

Education :

Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent experience. Supply chain or procurement designation is an asset.

Experience :

7–10 years in strategic procurement, logistics, waste management, or operations.

Skills & Knowledge :

  • Strong knowledge of post-collection processing, reverse logistics, and waste / material management
  • Strategic procurement and contract negotiation expertise
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution skills
  • Data-driven mindset and advanced analytical capabilities

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work arrangement with regular travel across BC
