An established, forward-thinking professional services firm is seeking a Director of Tax to lead and manage its internal tax function . This newly shaped leadership role will be central to ensuring that the organisation’s Irish tax affairs are compliant, well-governed, and strategically aligned with broader business goals.

Working closely with senior executives, this position blends compliance oversight , process optimisation , and cross-border coordination . It's ideal for a tax leader with deep technical knowledge, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the drive to modernise and future-proof internal tax operations.

Role Overview

• Lead the internal tax function, managing a wide scope of Irish tax obligations (incl. corporation tax, VAT, employment tax, and partnership tax )
• Oversee the preparation and filing of all internal tax returns and documentation, ensuring full compliance and governance
• Advise senior leadership on tax risks, opportunities, and forward-planning
• Represent the firm in discussions with tax authorities , handling audits, enquiries, and regulatory interactions
• Act as a connector between Irish operations and global tax counterparts to ensure coordinated tax strategy across jurisdictions
• Partner with finance, legal, and compliance teams to embed tax into wider business operations
• Drive digital transformation , automation and smarter reporting across tax workflows
• Play a hands-on role in tax policy development , internal education, and embedding a culture of tax awareness

What We’re Looking For

8–10+ years of relevant experience in corporate tax roles, preferably in partnerships, advisory firms, or large multinationals

A deep understanding of Irish tax legislation and compliance frameworks

Strong knowledge across direct and indirect tax types , as well as tax issues related to people, benefits, and structures

Proven leadership experience, particularly in driving process improvement and managing stakeholder relationships

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and explain complex topics clearly at senior level

Proactive mindset with a practical, solution-oriented approach

Qualifications

Professional qualification in Tax, Accounting, or Finance (CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)

Strong digital literacy, with interest or experience in tax technology tools and reporting automation
