POSITION: Director of Supply & Strategic Business Development

JOB DUTIES: The Director of Supply & Strategic Business Development will have full accountability for all raw material procurement, production planning and coordination and will support strategic business development initiatives. The duties of this role include but are not limited to:

oPlanning and directing domestic and international sourcing/purchasing activities

oEvaluating existing procurement practices, identifying new suppliers and developing new customer partnerships

oNegotiating pricing and purchase contracts with suppliers and forecasting market conditions and supply availability

oConducting risk mitigation for supply

oExercising control over inventory management and ensuring the alignment of purchasing activities with company policies and business needs

oPreparing reports including with respect to supplier mix, tariff rate quota balances and costs, average product costs, weekly procurement reports, claim reports, and product performance

oControlling purchasing/procurement budget

oLeading efforts to procure and manage Tariff Rate Quota files and support the import of product

oCoordinating logistics operations on domestic and international shipments, including coordinating border clearance measures with broker

oEvaluating product cost and quality in coordination with Quality Assurance and Certification (Raw Material Supply Qualification)

oProspecting for new business and coordinating supply solutions with sales staff

oServing as the company’s representative in attending key trade association meetings and industry events including with Chicken Farmers of Ontario, Chicken Farmers of Canada, Further Poultry Processors Association of Canada, Canadian Poultry & Egg Processors, Global Affairs Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

oBachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field

oThis is a senior level position and requires at least 5 years of experience working in the international supply of meat and poultry

oExperience with sourcing, international shipping and regulatory requirements including experience with Canadian poultry market including tariff rate quotas (TRQ), import controls, Canada Border Services Agency and Canadian Food Inspection Agency requirements

oAbility to negotiate complex contracts and experience with negotiating contracts in the industry

oKnowledge of poultry plant processes, sales and operations planning, quality assurance and claim management

oKnowledge of foreign commerce including relevant international legislation, logistics considerations and documentation requirements

oStrong project management skills

oAnalytical mindset and market intelligence skills

oLanguage: The candidate must be able to understand, read, write and speak in English. Additionally, the candidate will be required to onboard strategic new suppliers and negotiate contracts with South American countries and develop new customer partnerships with a clear view to growing the supplier base in that region and in alignment with Canadian trade agreements. Therefore, strong language proficiency (understanding, speaking, reading and writing) in Spanish and Portuguese is also essential for this role.

oWork location same as business address plus some national and international travel required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Permanent

COMPENSATION:We offer a generous compensation package, which includes:

oAnnual Salary Range: CAD$125,000 - $140,000 (40-hour work week)

oVacation: 20 days per year

oPersonal Days: 5 paid personal days per year

oMedical and dental benefits offered after a 3-month waiting period

oEligible for incremental raises and bonus consideration in accordance with standard company policies
