Overview

An exceptional opportunity to join a leading Canadian-owned food manufacturing company as Director, Supply Planning. This role is pivotal in overseeing end-to-end supply planning operations across multiple business units and manufacturing sites, with a direct impact on strategic growth and operational performance.

This position will report to the Vice President, Supply Chain and is designed for a forward-thinking supply chain leader who brings a balance of strategic foresight and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Long-Range Planning:
  • Lead the development and execution of supply planning strategies aligned with company growth targets. Analyze capacity against demand forecasts across multiple business units and design scalable, cost-effective planning models.
  • Tactical Supply Execution:
  • Oversee the creation of weekly production schedules across plants to ensure fulfillment of demand, minimizing inventory costs and maximizing throughput.
  • Inventory Management & Optimization:
  • Monitor inventory levels to maintain service levels, reduce waste, and drive lean inventory principles. Partner closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
  • Collaborate across supply chain, operations, sales, and finance to align planning efforts with business goals. Provide leadership in S&OP processes and executive-level planning discussions.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing team of supply planning professionals. Set clear goals, provide coaching, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Process Improvement & Systems:
  • Drive continuous improvement through use of planning tools and ERP systems. Leverage data to inform decisions and build robust forecasting and planning models.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in supply planning or S&OP within food manufacturing; dairy sector is an asset.
  • Proven experience leading supply chain planning across multiple sites or business units.
  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain principles including demand forecasting, capacity planning, and inventory optimization.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and planning software; strong Excel and analytical skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow teams, with a proven track record in coaching and developing talent.
  • Cross-functional influence: Able to impact broader business decisions through strategic supply chain leadership.
  • Strategic planning mindset with the ability to forecast growth, identify future challenges, and implement value-creating solutions.
  • Experience creating measurable impact in prior roles — candidates should be prepared to discuss specific examples of planning initiatives they’ve led and the results achieved.
