General Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Sales & Marketing to co-lead our Commercial Team at The Algonquin Resort. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for optimizing the hotel’s topline revenue opportunities and will drive key performance indicators such as TrevPAR, GOP, and market share. You will be a Leader that is energized by developing others and supporting their growth. As the primary owner of The Algonquin's positioning, you will lead the Sales & Marketing Teams efforts to expand awareness of the resort, develop segmented strategies to reach our potential Guests and manage the funnel, both for Marketing & Sales. As an Executive Committee member, you will be responsible for supporting the overall success of the hotel.


Activities

The duties of the Director of Sales & Marketing include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Strategist for Sales, Marketing and Profitability Initiatives;
  2. Develop and implement a marketing plan and budget to achieve established sales objectives;
  3. Manage turnover and work in parallel with the General Manager to maximize sales and profits and establish a pricing and selling price strategy;
  4. Provide the team with resources, training, coaching and moral support to do a good job. Provide orientation and ongoing development support, ensuring that training programs are consistent with individual career goals;
  5. Coach and energize the sales force in order to create a sales culture within a team of competent, efficient and united members who want to maximize their abilities;
  6. Act as a coach who is able to challenge and empower the team in revenue growth;
  7. Participate in internal and external business activities and lead the managers of the different market segments;
  8. Implement Marriott marketing programs. Maximize regional and national resources while taking responsibility for the results of the hotel;
  9. Provide overall hotel marketing leadership with revenue generation initiatives and ROI controls;
  10. Establish public relations links in the various markets and ensure the representation of the hotel in the feeder markets through partnerships and participation in events in order to keep the hotel at the top of the list;
  11. Ensures teamwork with department heads as a sales and marketing specialist. Maintain open communication with regional, national and corporate teams;
  12. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required;
  13. Key member of the Leadership and Crisis Management teams. Participate in rotational Department Head on Duty program;
  14. Assume responsibility for other tasks as required.
