Director of Sales & Marketing / Jaffer Hospitality

Holiday Inn Express & Suites - St. Albert, Super 8 - Gateway Blvd Edmonton, Ramada - Sherwood Park

About Jaffer Group of Companies

At the Jaffer Group, we're passionate about performance. Headquartered in Canada, we operate a diverse portfolio of businesses including strategic consulting, land development, property management, residential and commercial construction, boutique realty, retail, data management, and hospitality.

Within our hospitality division, we currently own and operate three hotel assets in Alberta, with plans for continued growth.

Join Our Growing Hospitality Team

We're looking for a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales & Marketing to lead revenue growth and brand visibility across our three Alberta-based hotel properties. If you're a strategic thinker with a passion for hospitality and a talent for building meaningful client relationships, we'd love to hear from you. We'll reward all your hard work with a great salary and benefits.

Join us and you'll become part of the family - and like all families, all our individual team members share some winning characteristics. As a team, we work better together - we trust and support each other, we do the right thing and we welcome different perspectives. We genuinely care about people and we show this through living out our promise of True Hospitality each and every day. It's what connects every colleague in all our hotels.

Position Summary

As the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives that drive revenue, strengthen our brand reputation, and support long-term business objectives. You'll oversee a small team (including managing third-party contractors), manage key client relationships, and collaborate closely with hotel leadership to ensure exceptional service and profitability across all properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute daily sales activities
  • Train colleagues to make sure they hit hotel revenue goals to the standards we expect and have the tools they need to work effectively
  • Create a collaborative environment where departments work as one unified team
  • Interact with outside contacts: guests, vendors, and other contacts as needed
  • Develop and maintain great working relationships with key clients and outside contacts to increase revenue
  • Develop and implement sales and revenue strategies that drive occupancy, group business, and average daily rate (ADR)
  • Contribute to the development of annual departmental budgets and the overall marketing and business plan
  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share, and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan
  • Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients
  • Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel
  • Understand and track performance against KPI's

Guest & Client Engagement

  • Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience
  • Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients
  • Communicate to appropriate departments all pertinent information requirements and special needs for arriving VIP's, large groups, and other key guests
  • Lead marketing efforts to upsell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold outreach, and strategic partnerships
  • Plan and execute 'Make your stay' initiatives to enhance guest experience and ensure personalized services

Marketing & Brand Visibility

  • Identify opportunities to improve marketing efforts and overall hotel performance
  • Drive awareness of the hotel brands through community involvement and partnership development
  • Lead digital marketing initiatives, local promotions, and advertising campaigns
  • Execute social media strategy for each hotel

General & Administrative

  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and support ad hoc projects as needed (unexpected moments can occur when we have to pull together to get a task done)
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of market trends and competitor strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of progressive sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry
  • Director of Sales - IHG certification
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding revenue targets
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient with CRM platforms, hotel sales software (e.g., Delphi, HotelKey, and Synxis), and Microsoft Office Suite

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
  • Opportunity to grow with a forward-thinking and values-driven hospitality team
