Job description

Our client in the building materials industry, located in Innisfil, is seeking a Director of Sales to lead and develop their technical sales team across North America. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, shaping sales strategy, and mentoring a team of 4-5 Technical Sales Representatives. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of hands-on technical sales experience, strategic thinking, and team leadership.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Technical Sales Representatives, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to drive business growth and expand market share across North America
  • Oversee team KPIs, pipeline development, and performance metrics to ensure accountability and continuous improvement
  • Support team members in high-level client engagements, offering guidance on technical sales strategies and product application
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and strategic partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, logistics, marketing, and manufacturing) to ensure seamless delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to the development of technical sales materials and marketing initiatives, including trade shows and promotional content
  • Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform sales strategies and product positioning
  • Represent the sales function in senior leadership discussions and business planning initiatives

Key Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education in material science, engineering, construction technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in technical sales, preferably within the building materials or construction sector
  • Industry experience with dry mortars, lightweight aggregates, or related additives (e.g., methylcelluloses, starch ethers, air-entraining agents) is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with dry mortar machinery or aggregates used in building and construction is considered a strong asset
  • Prior experience leading a high-performing sales team
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required across North America, including the US and Mexico
