Job Description

Five Colleges, Incorporated (FCI) seeks a Director of Risk Management to oversee and provide strategic direction to the Five College Risk Management Office, which leads the development and implementation of strategy for risk management and mitigation for Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges ("participating colleges") and Five Colleges, Incorporated (FCI).

The Director contributes to the enterprise risk management programs for the participating colleges and assumes management duties for the captive insurance program. Responsibilities also include insurance procurement, claims management, compliance, and emergency preparedness. The position supervises a small team and reports to the FCI Executive Director, with select reporting duties directly to the participating colleges.

This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position with Five Colleges, Incorporated. The primary work location for this in-person role is South Hadley, Massachusetts, but requires regular in-person interaction with individuals on multiple campuses in the consortium.

FCI is the higher education consortium that supports the excellence of our member campuses - Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst - through extensive academic and administrative collaborations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You could be a great fit for this position if you:

  • Are an experienced risk management professional

  • Can serve as a trusted strategic adviser and thought partner to four higher education institutions and a nonprofit organization-all with different needs and cultures

  • Have advanced knowledge of the insurance ecosystem to advise on and lead the procurement, renewal, and claims management processes

  • Have a broad understanding of the relevant laws and rules necessary to effectively manage compliance functions such as contract reviews, background checks, driver credentialing, and Title IX
