Job summary

Yee Hong Scarborough Finch II is seeking a Director of Resident Care to lead nursing and restorative services for a new 224-bed, culturally inclusive long-term care home opening in early 2027. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will shape resident-centered care, ensure regulatory compliance, and empower your nursing team to deliver compassionate, high-quality outcomes.

The role requires a registered nurse with a College of Nurses of Ontario certification, a nursing degree or equivalent,

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Bachelor's degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, including 1 year in geriatrics, rehabilitation and long-term care nursing.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an RN in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting, preferably in long-term care.
• Current CPR Certificate.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Computer literacy is required.
• Ability to communicate in Chinese or Japanese is an asset.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee nursing and restorative care services to ensure safe, high-quality, resident-centered care.
• Manage staffing and team performance, including recruitment, orientation, coaching, development, scheduling, and evaluation.
• Oversee resident admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring appropriate coordination of care.
• Lead quality improvement, risk management, infection prevention and control, and resident safety initiatives.
• Advocate for residents by addressing concerns and promoting their health, dignity, independence, and well-being.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care with physicians, pharmacists, rehabilitation, dietary, activation, social work, hospitals, and other partners.
• Develop and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Monitor department resources, budgets, supplies, and pharmaceutical inventory to support efficient operations.
• Provide nursing leadership and reporting to the Executive Director, Professional Advisory Committee, and other key stakeholders.
• Support the overall administration and strategic priorities of the LTC home.
