Job description

Job Title:Director of Project Delivery

What you will be doing:

  • Direct and manage a diverse portfolio of capital infrastructure projects owned by utility and municipal clients, ranging in value from $10K to $40M

  • Collaborate with both external partners and your internal team of Program/Project managers and technical Team leads to deliver Owner’s Representative services for capital projects

  • Lead contract and portfolio management with a major client throughout the contract life cycle including initiation, annual rate negotiations, steering committee participation and ensuring terms and conditions are met

  • Present program status, risks, and mitigation strategies to the companyexecutives

  • Forecast challenges in executing the scope of works by anticipating risks and capacity constraints and implement mitigation plans

  • Lead strategic planning and annual performance objectives for the business unit

  • Responsible for assigning work to staff, monitoring billability, and actions to respond (e.g., resource management, staff feedback)

  • Responsible for team morale and culture, ensuring the f values are lived

  • Manage staff performance including regular feedback, 3-month reviews, annual performance reviews, team training, and structure of the company’scoaching program

  • Initiate new Purchase Orders with clients and complete monthly invoice reviews

  • Responsible for the implementation of our Quality Management Program and Project Management Methodology, including completing reviews of client deliverables

  • Initiate recruitment needs and work with HR to provide role requirements and support as needed

  • Provide input to the company’s executives for annual strategic planning

Who you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or equivalent. A master’s degree in business administration would be an asset.

  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation are required.

  • 15+ years’ experience in engineering and project management

  • 5+ years of managing a team of 10-30 staff members (including 2-3 direct reports)

  • Experience managing complex electric Transmission & Distribution and utility infrastructure projects and programs in North America; ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and reports

  • Experience working in engineering consulting environment and providing services to infrastructure owners

  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent team management skills: able to inspire, provide clear guidance, ensure quality work, implement change management, and thoughtfully guide staff performance and development

  • Advanced understanding of contract management with demonstrated judgment; able to weigh alternative actions and make financial decisions

  • Strong client account management experience with advanced interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, relationship-building and writing skills in English

  • Working knowledge of business performance and operations metrics, and understanding of different business functions (e.g., HR, Finance, Marketing)

  • Strong experience in project services and financial and operational performance reporting

  • Demonstrated success resolving escalated project and personnel performance issues

  • Knowledge of estimating and safety consulting is an asset

  • Must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area; able to work from North Vancouver Office

Salary/Rate Range: $150,000.00 – $200,000.00
