Key Responsibilities
Financial & Strategic Execution
- Support the SVP in meeting budgeted pre-tax income targets through product performance and margin control.
- Recommend and implement cost efficiencies to improve profitability within the product portfolio.
- Identify growth opportunities, including premium product segments and emerging destinations.
- Assist in preparing the annual business plan and operating budget for the Product department.
- Oversee management and reporting of co-op funding from tourism boards, supplier overrides, and airline partners to support promotions and FAM initiatives.
Sales, Promotions & Market Presence
- Track and optimize sales leads, quote conversion rates, and closing rates to support revenue growth.
- Coordinate promotional campaigns with tourism boards, DMCs, airlines, and travel trade partners.
- Maintain a calendar of promotions, including flyers, eZines, website specials, and eblasts.
- Ensure web content is accurate, enticing, and aligned with product systems (e.g., iVector).
Product Development & Costing
- Manage cross-divisional supplier partners, including Bed Banks, Car rental suppliers, APT, and cruise lines.
- Implement RFP processes for onboarding new suppliers and manage SLAs.
- Coordinate supplier API integration with IT and operations divisions.
- Work with Product Managers on itinerary development, copywriting, and product selection.
- Ensure balanced product lines across divisions, including pricing bands, travel styles, and types.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of product content and pricing across systems and digital platforms.
- Oversee the product loading team to ensure speed to market and consistency in product build.
Team Training & Enablement
- Support the rollout of the RISE program to elevate Destination Specialists’ product expertise and service standards.
- Maintain and update training modules for destination info, products, and quizzes to develop Destination Specialist “Experts”.
People Leadership & Customer Management
- Lead and motivate cross-functional teams using a mentorship model.
- Partner with People & Culture on recruitment, onboarding, and change management.
- Conduct performance reviews, ensuring KPIs and sales targets are met.
- Maintain department policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Plan and organize FAM trips and travel for prize winners.
- Respond professionally to escalated customer complaints and refund requests.
Reporting & Insights
- Report on product performance, bookings, margins, and lead generation weekly and monthly.
- Track quote volumes, lead sources, and conversion trends to inform promotional and sales strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in Product Development & Market Strategy, including negotiating supplier contracts and enhancing product competitiveness.
- Proven skills in Sales & Marketing, including promotional campaigns, lead conversion, and digital marketing.
- Strong analytical skills for performance tracking and market trend interpretation using CRM/BI tools.
- Operational and project management capabilities to meet timelines and report effectively.
- Leadership experience in mentoring teams, performance reviews, and training programs (e.g., RISE).
- Ability to manage supplier relationships, resolve escalations, and maintain industry connections.
- Travel product buying experience is essential.
- Bonus: Industry experience and a business/finance degree are advantageous.
