We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of People & Culture to lead our HR function and help shape the culture of our organization. This key member of the executive leadership team is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies that support our mission, values, growth, and business goals. This role encompasses all aspects of HR, including employee engagement, training and development, compensation, benefits, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strategic vision and hands-on start up leadership experience to drive a high-performance, inclusive workplace culture.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have a passion for leading industry-changing solutions with significant social, economic, and environmental impact
  • Desire to play a founding role and reap the benefits as part of a growth-stage startup with significant upside
  • Enjoy building not only the technology but also high-performing teams and companies
  • Are committed to continuous learning at the intersection of several industries
  • Are known for moving seamlessly between strategic business thinking and hands-on pragmatism

What you will do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute HR strategies that align with our mission and long-term growth plans.
  • Workforce Planning & Organizational Development: Lead initiatives to foster leadership development, succession planning, and workforce planning to meet future business needs.
  • Culture, Equity, & Engagement: Promote a workplace that is inclusive, high-performing, and rooted in psychological safety
  • Recruitment and succession planning: Oversee hiring and succession pipeline.
  • Performance Management & Total Rewards: Establish and evolve performance management systems that reflect Promise Robotics’ values of high performance, feedback, and continuous improvement
  • Training & Development: Oversee the development and delivery of training programs to enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and compliance awareness.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Ensure competitive and equitable compensation structures, manage benefits programs, and evaluate market trends to attract and retain talent.
  • Compliance, HR Systems & Reporting: Ensure organizational compliance with employment standards, health and safety regulations, and other legal requirements
  • Executive Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing insights on organizational health, workforce trends, and change management.
  • Conflict Resolution: Oversee the resolution of complex employee relations issues and implement policies to mitigate risks.
  • Team leadership: Manage internal and external HR resources

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current CHRL or CHRP designation
  • 10 to 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with both start-up and large organization experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of supporting diverse and distributed teams.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing HR strategies in a fast-paced environment, preferably within the technology & manufacturing sectors.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organization.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and data analytics tools.

Benefits:

Competitive salary: we believe in data-driven, equitable compensation decisions. We recently completed a compensation review and implemented salary bands that enable us to pay mid to above-average Canadian salaries across various industries.

Stock options: everyone has a stake in our company.

Holistic benefits: we have a comprehensive benefits package that includes paramedical, dental, vision, and drug coverage for you and your dependents, as well as a health care spending account. These benefits start right from Day 1.

Flexible personal days and vacation policies: we care deeply about the well-being of our team.

Open, collaborative, and supportive culture: you will be part of an incredibly high-performing and collaborative team changing the future of an industry!
