We are seeking an experienced and strategic Payroll Director to lead and manage our payroll operations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across the organization. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working in Dayforce (Ceridian) and a deep understanding of payroll processes. Experience with payroll system implementations is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of payroll processing for 3000 employees across multiple provinces including Quebec.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal and provincial payroll laws and tax regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the payroll team to ensure high levels of performance and service.
  • Maintain and optimize payroll processes within the Dayforce system, acting as the internal subject matter expert.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure data accuracy, seamless integrations, and process alignment.
  • Oversee payroll reporting, audits, tax filings, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Continuously evaluate payroll workflows and recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Support payroll system enhancements or implementations as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; PCP certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with Dayforce payroll processing is required.
  • Experience participating in or leading payroll system implementations is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a team and work cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge of taxable benefit deductions and benefit premium deductions,.
  • Knowledge of union dues deduction and submissions, union pension contributions collection and distribution to plan vendors.
