Job description

Reporting to the Vice President Infrastructure, the Director of Operations – Infrastructure, oversees and optimizes production activities on the project sites. This person will work closely with the team to ensure the planning, strategic use of equipment and the development of field teams. The successful candidate will act as a lever to improve efficiency, quality of execution and compliance with deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate operations on sites, in collaboration with the project teams.
  • Develop and maintain a global production plan combining all ongoing projects and contracts.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve work methods, ensuring that they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Optimize working methods to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate with internal departments on periodic inspections of tools, vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance and availability.
  • Meet with customers to understand current and future needs.
  • Actively contribute to the development and retention of the workforce : training, coaching and transfer of expertise.
  • Supervise and support superintendents and team leaders in achieving production objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and internal procedures.
  • Analyze performance indicators and propose corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain constant collaboration with Project Managers to anticipate needs and adjust production plans.
  • Support the estimation team in preparing project or contract bids.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

Required Profile :

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in supervision of outside plant / utilities construction.
  • Technical or university training in civil engineering, site management or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of working methods in underground, aerial and splicing.
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills and analytical skills.
  • Customer focused to maintain relationships and grow new business.
  • Ability to optimize the use of resources and resolve issues quickly.
  • Proficiency in basic computer tools and site management software (an asset).
  • Valid driver's license and availability for frequent travel.
