Job description

Role: Director of Operations

Location: Saskatoon-based for training starting Fall 2025 until September 2026, then can choose to be located in Prince Albert, SK or Regina, SK.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan (RMHC-SK) offers comfort, support, and community to families with sick children. They provide essential resources, including meals, health and wellness programs, and sibling support, aiming to alleviate financial burdens and support healing. They are expanding with new locations in Prince Albert and Regina.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This leadership role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of a newly built House—either Regina or Prince Albert. You will receive hands-on training in Saskatoon at a well-established house and then help prepare the new house for families' arrival, managing people, programs, and processes with care. You will be the face of the House, building trust, leading with empathy, and ensuring safety and cleanliness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program & Family Support Leadership

  • Lead daily operations across Family Services, Food Programs, and Facility Maintenance.
  • Manage and mentor department staff.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align activities with strategic goals.
  • Support staff in resolving concerns and fostering a sense of safety and belonging.
  • Maintain relationships with healthcare partners to support Family Centered Care.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed professionally and warmly.

Facilities & Food Program Oversight

  • Ensure food safety and quality, including donor-supported meals and volunteer baking.
  • Oversee house safety, cleanliness, and maintenance projects.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs and develop maintenance plans.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with volunteer management to support staffing.
  • Engage with families and volunteers to foster recognition and gratitude.
  • Represent RMHC-SK in community engagement and partnerships.

Risk Management & Organizational Alignment

  • Participate in safety and risk meetings and ensure compliance.
  • Serve as the on-call contact for emergencies.
  • Embed REDI and trauma-informed principles in operations and staff development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, operations, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices and REDI principles.
  • Strong judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Approachable, relationship-builder, and community-oriented.
  • Experience leading teams and engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to be onsite and actively involved in operations.
