Job Summary

As a Director of Operations , you will implement manufacturing policies to guide the plant in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability. You will oversee safety, order entry, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and engineering, collaborating across the organization to meet sales needs. You will ensure products are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards, and cost objectives.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and development to the team, creating an engaging environment with clear responsibilities, goals, and progress reporting.
  • Work collaboratively in a matrix organization, partnering with sales on demand planning and keeping up-to-date on equipment changes.
  • Manage the annual budget, including capital expenditures, cost control, manpower, and facilities requirements.

Process Improvement

  • Transform company culture towards Continuous Improvement and Accountability, supporting lean manufacturing principles.
  • Develop and install standard manufacturing practices based on comparative studies.
  • Identify and develop process improvement champions within the organization.

Procurement and Quality

  • Direct manufacturing at the lowest cost while maintaining quality and quantity standards.
  • Establish inventory controls and monitor inventory metrics.
  • Work with procurement to review quality reports and ensure supplier standards are met.
  • Create a sustainable supply chain with continuous improvement monitoring.
  • Stay updated on equipment changes that may affect scope.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance Team to ensure quality metrics and countermeasures are in place.

General

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local laws, and safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt Certification preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience leading a manufacturing organization.
  • Experience in low volume / high mix manufacturing preferred.
  • Management and staff development experience.
  • Ability to implement lean manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and perform efficiently.
  • Prolonged sitting, routine computer use, and travel credentials required.

Salary Range : $133,000 – 175,000 CAD

Physical Requirements

Mostly sitting, walking, standing, handling, reaching, stooping, climbing, balancing, talking, and computer use. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
