Palliser School Division is seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and experienced educational leader to join our senior leadership team as a Director of Learning, Curriculum. This pivotal role will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for key areas impacting student achievement and educator growth across our division. The successful candidate will be a champion for equitable access to high-quality education, deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and cultural responsiveness.
The Division
The Palliser School Division is a public-school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. Palliser’s geographical area stretches from Coaldale to Calgary, Alberta. In the 202 5 -202 6 school year, the Division will have approximately 8 100 students. Palliser serves students in ECS through Grade 12 in 14 community schools; 9 faith-based alternative schools, 8 of which are in Calgary on 5 separate campuses; one sports-based alternative school ; four alternative programs for Low German-speaking Mennonite families; 17 Hutterian colony schools; homeschooling, online and international programs.

The Role
The Director of Learning, Curriculum - South will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following areas:
Literacy, Numeracy And Wellbeing Leadership
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive divisional strategy from early learning through grade 12.
- Providing leadership and support for evidence-based instruction and intervention across all schools.
- Analyzing data to inform instructional practices and targeted interventions.
- Staying abreast of current research and best practices in education.
New Curriculum Implementation
- Leading and coordinating the successful implementation of new provincial curricula across all subject areas.
- Developing and facilitating professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators related to new curriculum.
- Support building teacher and leader capacity in alignment between curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
Division-Wide Professional Development
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive professional development strategy within their areas of leadership for all staff.
- Identifying professional learning needs based on divisional priorities, curriculum changes, and student data.
- Fostering a culture of collaborative inquiry and continuous professional growth among educators.
Student Learning
- Collaborating with school leaders to monitor and improve student achievement across all grades and subjects.
- Utilizing data to inform instructional decisions and identify areas for growth.
- Championing innovative and equitable pedagogical approaches that promote student engagement and success.
- Supporting school leaders in continued school improvement.

- Experience with curriculum implementation and professional development design.

Education/Experience
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate and LQS;
- Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in school-based administration (e.g., Principal, Vice-Principal) or central office leadership roles directly related to curriculum, instruction, or student services.
Additional Information
- Start Date: August 5, 2025
- Salary: $139,000 to $159,000, commensurate with experience.
- 12 Month, out of scope position
- Required to become a member of CASS and participate in the Continuing Education Program
