The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking IT leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as the Director of Information Technology. Qualifications
Conditions of Employment:
• The incumbent must be, and remain, politically non-partisan in both perception and fact
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Satisfactory criminal records check
• Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s License with access to a vehicle to use for work-related purposes
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Manitoba when operations require
• Degree in a technology-related field; equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Experience translating strategic priorities into clear technology plans.
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise and information security including establishing security framework, monitoring and mitigation plans.
• Proven experience leading large-scale IT projects and managing vendor contracts and procurement.
· Expertise in data analytics, data modeling, and visualization tools such as SQL.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
· Experience supervising and mentoring IT staff and supporting a collaborative team environment.
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and stability.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
· Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities under tight timelines.
· Strong political acumen with the ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive material. Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality, standards of personal conduct, ethical behaviour and common sense.
Desired Skills
· Security designation such as CISSP, GIAC are considered an asset.
· Election related experience
Elections Manitoba is seeking candidates who are willing to work on a flexible schedule when operations require; this may include working outside of standard office hours, and willingness to work additional hours, such as during election periods. The incumbent must also be capable of traveling for work-related purposes within Manitoba, and physically capable of lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment.
Duties:
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Information Technology will work independently and across departments to strategically lead the IT division, drive process optimization and enhanced service delivery in preparation of election events.
The Director, IT will lead the design, security and protection of Election Manitoba’s IT infrastructure and systems to insure the successful delivery of elections. The Director, IT will also supervise and support a skilled IT team and provide strategic leadership of all digital systems that support electoral management, voter registration, vote counting and real-time results reporting.
