Job description

Location : Remote near Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina or Winnipeg

Location : Near a major airport in Western Canada

Our client is an agricultural trade association that supports sustainability, food security and economic growth. Their core priorities revolve around : a) helping members bring the benefits of their technology to market, b) enabling global trade as it relates to plant science innovations and c) driving the recognition of Canada’s plant science industry as a leader in sustainability. We are recruiting an ag industry expert, with a solid understanding of how governments form policy, to become their new WESTERN CANADA DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS AND STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS. This is a meaningful role where you can make a difference.

This job has three broad responsibilities :

  • Provide leadership and identify strategic ways to address regulatory and science policy issues.
  • Maintain and engage a strong network of stakeholders, provincial government officials and regulators.
  • Work closely with the team, association members and industry stakeholders in Western Canada to advance the sector's priorities.

To be considered for the role you must be a leader who is passionate about agriculture and knowledgeable about the plant science industry (i.e. crop protection, soil health or seed). You must have a proven track record of collaboration with a history of leading and executing projects successfully. You excel at driving impactful results. You have held a role where you inspired, motivated and influenced stakeholders. You possess organizational abilities and exceptional project management and prioritization skills. You can analyze complex information and translate ideas into actionable plans that achieve desired outcomes. You can gather and consider information from various sources, understand and mitigate risks and make sound decisions. We are looking for an exceptional communicator (written, verbal, active listening) who enjoys networking, gathering intelligence and disseminating information within our industry. Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can contribute at the policy development level.

NOTE : Preference will be given to candidates who are well established and well connected in Agriculture community in Western Canada.
