Job summary

Instacart is hiring a Director of Compensation to own our broad-based compensation strategy end-to-end. You will lead programs, frameworks, and cross-functional partnerships that attract, retain, and motivate top talent as we grow into new markets.

You’ll work with HR Partners, Finance, Legal and senior leaders to design equity and base pay programs, influence executive offers, and drive pay equity initiatives across global teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive compensation experience with at least 3 years in people management.
• Directly supported large R&D or Engineering functions with advisory scope to VP/SVP level.
• Deep expertise in equity compensation design and strategy in a tech environment.
• Experience building compensation programs at scale: job architecture, market pricing, performance cycles.
• Ability to transform disparate data into clear executive recommendations using spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Own the broad-based compensation strategy end-to-end.
• Design and deliver compensation programs with high quality and speed.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal and senior leaders to solve hard problems and provide actionable recommendations.
• Advise on executive offers, retention decisions, org changes, pay equity, and difficult calls in gray areas.
• Lead international expansion compensation work with frameworks, data, and guidance.
