Our Client

Our Client is an amazing non-profit organization that provides assistance to women in need, strives to empower them in their day-to-day lives, and helps them overcome the challenges they face. They are searching for a Director of Fund Development and Communications to join the team. In this role, you are responsible for the development, management, and oversight of fundraising, donor relations, funding applications, and communications plans. Salary ranges from $97,000 to $113,000 per annum, with full benefits and a pension.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership and mentoring to Fund Development & Communications staff
  2. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development
  3. Create and implement the development plan in line with strategic goals
  4. Develop and oversee all fundraising programs
  5. Support the Fundraising Committee
  6. Build and strengthen relationships with corporations to develop sponsorship and other development opportunities
  7. Oversee government and foundation fund development including managing relationships, contracts, and reporting processes
  8. Plan and oversee all special event fundraising activities including sponsorships, the annual Herstory Gala, and the annual Run
  9. Work closely with the Executive Director on new funding opportunities
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
  2. Minimum 5 years experience in fundraising, donor relations, and communications, ideally in a non-profit
  3. Experience managing websites and social media platforms for a business or non-profit organization
  4. Excellent interpersonal and relational skills; ability to work with donors, funders, volunteers, staff, and board members
  5. Ability to provide strategic guidance and anticipate and solve problems
  6. Ability to influence and collaborate with key stakeholders
  7. Proficiency in donor database software and digital communication tools
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery
  9. Strong knowledge of issues impacting women in the DTES, such as gender-based violence, mental health, substance use, and housing
