We are seeking a Complex Director of Finance to oversee the finance functions for three boutique properties: The Matrix Hotel in downtown Edmonton, and the Metterra and Varscona Hotels on Whyte Avenue. We offer competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, flexible scheduling, and travel discounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the “Chief Business Officer” to general managers and the Executive Committee, evaluating financial impacts on business decisions.
• Notify management of financial deviations and control weaknesses promptly.
• Manage cash flow, including preparing cash-flow statements, managing receivables, cash balances, and deposits.
• Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, analyze variances, and recommend improvements.
• Oversee property management leasing agreements with vendors.
• Assist in capital planning, including ROI calculations and bid process monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, and taxes.
• Coordinate forecasts and budgets with management and department heads.
• Analyze financial data to support management in achieving financial objectives.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain internal controls.
• Lead recruitment, training, and development of finance staff.
• Maintain compliance with company standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Hotel Director of Finance or similar role.
• Degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of P&L, budgeting, cash management, and financial analysis.
• Understanding of hospitality operations and relevant legal/regulatory requirements.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with financial software; experience with Profitsage, M3, or Birchstreet is a plus.
