About The Role
Muir Tapes & Adhesives Ltd. (MTA), a leading provider of custom tape and adhesive solutions to manufacturers, is seeking a Director of Finance & Business Systems to lead financial strategy, drive operational efficiencies, and oversee IT systems, including AI adoption. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the President and Leadership Team to scale the business, optimize financial performance, and foster a high-performance, results-driven culture.
This role is more than accounting—it’s about strategic leadership, business advisory, and driving actionable insights to support company growth across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is a visionary financial leader who can mentor a team, improve processes, and leverage technology to enhance decision-making.

What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Advisory
- Partner with the Leadership Team to develop and execute financial strategies that drive growth and profitability.
- Provide data-driven insights through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and KPI tracking.
- Lead financial planning initiatives that align with company expansion goals.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiencies.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports with actionable insights for the Leadership Team.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee government reporting, tax filings, and audits (CRA, external audits).
- Manage capital expenditure controls, forecasting, and reporting.
Team Leadership & Coaching
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Set clear job expectations, goals, and performance metrics for the finance department.
- Conduct monthly 1:1 coaching sessions to develop team capabilities and drive results.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with sales, operations, and supply chain teams to improve financial decision-making.
IT & Systems Oversight
- Lead the company-wide adoption and integration of AI technologies, ensuring alignment with strategic goals across all departments (finance, operations, sales, customer service, and supply chain).
- Oversee ERP system enhancements, ensuring optimal integration with finance and operations.
- Collaborate with IT teams to improve cybersecurity, data integrity, and system efficiencies.
- Drive process automation and digital transformation to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Ensure IT systems and AI initiatives support business scalability, efficiency, and strategic growth.
Outcomes & Contributions
- Develop a financial roadmap to support company expansion across three locations.
- Enhance financial reporting with real-time dashboards and predictive analytics.
- Strengthen internal controls and risk management strategies.
- Optimize ERP system usage to improve financial and operational efficiencies.
- Improve efficiency and accuracy while reducing costs through process improvements.
- Establish and manage KPIs (CM, NP, DSO, Labour Efficiency Ratio, Net Return on Invested Capital) with clear targets and strategies.
- Develop and execute an AI adoption strategy that enhances efficiency, automation, and data-driven decision-making across the company.
- Leverage AI to improve financial forecasting, automate reporting, and optimize operational processes.
- Ensure AI-driven insights support strategic planning, customer engagement, and business growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA preferred).
- 5-7 years of experience in finance leadership roles (Controller, Director of Finance, or equivalent).
- Experience in manufacturing and distribution industries.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing ERP systems (EPICOR preferred) and IT-related financial processes.
Skills & Competencies

- Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization.

- Canadian payroll knowledge and experience (preferred).
Working Conditions
- Office locations in Oakville, Ontario and London, Ontario with a collaborative, growth-focused team.
- Hybrid work model: Employees can work from home one day per week.
- Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

The Pay Range For This Role Is
130,000 - 150,000 CAD per year(MTA (HQ) - Oakville)
