Director of Finance and Administration
Ottawa Rapid FC joins clubs in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax as a founding member of the Northern Super League, Canada’s first women’s pro soccer league. The Director of Finance and Administration holds a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health and organizational efficiency of the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in financial management and operational excellence. The Director of Finance and Administration will work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to drive the company’s financial strategy, manage resources, and ensure operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Financial Management
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth, expansion and profitability objectives.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial planning.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the executive team and Board of Directors.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, insurance and internal policies.
Operational Management
- People & Culture: Oversee human resources, benefits, and payroll functions for a growing team, including developing internal policies and systems, creating overall culture for the team to thrive and do their best work.
- Systems Set Up and Process Improvement: Set up systems for organizational effectiveness (including payroll software, desktop IT software, leave management, etc.). Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices across the organization.
- Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources, including human, financial, and technological assets in order to meet revenue targets and maintain budget.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with technical and business operations departments to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Work with the league and other club teams to achieve collective business goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including owners and department leads to create alignment on club goals, systems and processes.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in finance and operations, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Skills:
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent strategic planning and execution capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Details:
- This is a full-time, permanent position that requires the candidate to be in Ottawa.
- Salary range is $100,000 - $115,000 plus comprehensive health benefits & annual bonus tied to reporting and admin milestones.
- Expected start date March 1.
- Work Schedule: Full-time hybrid. The club works out of the House of Sport on Riverside Drive.
