Position Summary
Alabaster Group of Companies is hiring for the position of Director, Finance who will become the functional lead of Alabaster’s dynamic Finance Team. This is a newly created position due to growing business needs and increasing projects. This position will report directly to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
Management of Finance Team in carrying out capital sourcing & financing activities
- Ensuring accuracy of pro forma, equity waterfall and cash flow
- Creation and maintenance of operations forecasts
- Ensuring project cash flows are sufficient and make appropriate decisions for capital calls and additional loans when necessary
- Producing investment memos for equity investors and lender’s packages for debt financing
- Initiating and reviewing ad-hoc financial analysis
- Review LOIs & commitment letters from lenders
- Making recommendations regarding project financing, including capital stack and lender
- Oversight of loan due diligence and lender reporting
- Maintaining relationships with lenders, brokers and other capital providers
- Stay up-to-date on bank financing guidelines and limitations, including for CMHC and non-market developments
- Produce internal project commitment reports (in conjunction with SLT), highlighting potential risks/mitigations related to the financing of the project
- Providing guidance to our legal team in the formation of limited partnerships, including review of partnership and management agreements, and the set-up of accompanying entities
Liaising with accounting team in carrying out project and corporate management
- Ensure financial requests for information are met, including reports to lenders, investors, QS, and other stakeholders
- Providing information to substantiate net worth and guarantees for project loans
- Ensure tracking and processes are in place to adhere to loan covenants and restrictions
Management of finance team in investor communication
- Compiling quarterly reporting to partnership via investor update
- Organizing additional reporting and monthly updates to institutional partners as needed
- Responding to ad-hoc investor requests and questions
- Managing subscription agreements, shareholder certificates
- Obtaining and filing investor information for regulatory requirements
Oversight of certain aspects of legal, risk management and human resources
- Training and development of finance team members, including performance reviews
- Ensure the interests of the Alabaster Group of Companies and its subsidiaries interests are protected in all major legal documents and agreements, such as partnership agreements, leases, management agreements and contracts
- Ensure corporate insurance and liability policies are in place and sufficient
- Oversight of legal action taken by or against the projects and corporate entities including corporate litigation, arbitration and mediation, and project liens
Other duties, tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned and required.

In addition to these qualities, you possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Urban Land Economics or a related field is required.
- Minimum 10+ years relevant and progressive experience in real estate finance with a developer or private equity or consulting firm specializing in real estate.
- MBA or CFA designation is an asset
- Robust relationships with banking contacts in the Vancouver area
- Proven team leadership skills with experience managing finance teams
- Advanced proficiency in financial modelling, Excel and MS Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, underwrite and evaluate real estate projects
- An open and articulate communications style with strong verbal and written communication skill with a willingness to learn quickly and adapt in a fast paced environment where multiple tasks and projects are worked on simultaneously.
- Eligible to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or valid working visa) required.
Compensation
Your Total Compensation Package includes:
- Base Annual Compensation, with a range of $150,000.00 - $190,000.00 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
- Vacation & Time Off Package.
- Extended Health & Dental Benefits upon successful completion of a probationary period.
