IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is looking to hire a DIRECTOR OF FINANCE – AFTER MARKET BUSINESS GROUP for our Barrie, ON client.

Company Overview:

A leading aftermarket business group is seeking a Director of Finance to oversee financial operations across multiple business units in Canada and the U.S. This group specializes in manufacturing, distribution, parts fabrication, and service support for infrastructure maintenance solutions.

Role Summary:

The Director of Finance plays a key role in financial management, compliance, and reporting, ensuring alignment with GAAP, IFRS, and SOX regulations. This position is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and audit oversight while serving as a key strategic partner in financial decision-making.

Beyond financial oversight, this role is integral to team leadership and development, fostering a collaborative, high-performing finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in publicly traded organizations, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of SEC reporting requirements.

This position is based in Barrie, Ontario, reporting to the Senior Director of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard assets and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance.
  • Lead internal and external audit processes, coordinating with auditors and business controllers.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement financial controls to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and finalization of financial statements.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Oversee activities of business controllers and financial teams across business units.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring alignment with financial best practices and compliance standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews, training programs, and recruitment efforts for the finance department.

Strategic & Operational Support:

  • Partner with leadership teams to assess financial results and develop key financial strategies.
  • Support M&A due diligence and financial integration.
  • Participate in the annual operating plan development.
  • Lead financial initiatives that drive business growth and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one for cross-border travel.

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a finance leadership role.
  • 3+ years in a senior finance role within a publicly traded company with knowledge of SEC reporting.
  • Audit experience (internal or external) and strong understanding of audit procedures, risk assessment, and compliance.
  • Expertise in financial management, full-cycle accounting, and consolidation.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop financial strategies, and drive business results.
