Position Summary:

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and financial reporting activities at Planitar.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring
accurate and timely financial statements, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic financial planning efforts alongside the Senior Leadership Team.

Job Duties:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Canadian GAAP.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies.
  • Drive process improvements, including the automation of financial reporting and reducing the month-end close cycle to under one week.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities.
  • Manage and support external audits and tax filings, ensuring all regulatory and compliance obligations are met.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting and financial consolidations within a parent-subsidiary or parent-branch structure.
  • Utilize financial systems (Xero experience considered an asset) to optimize reporting accuracy and efficiency.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP; experience with IFRS considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting businesses with both capital sales and professional services revenue streams, under a transaction-based (non-subscription) model.
  • Proven experience with intercompany accounting and consolidations across multiple entities.
  • Familiarity with Xero accounting software and other cloud-based financial systems preferred.
  • Experience leading or participating in automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows.
  • Strategic thinker with a high attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working cross-functionally with executive and operational teams.
