Job Description:

Our client is a leading Canadian retailer specializing in fitness equipment, with a strong commitment to promoting health, wellness, and accessible fitness solutions. As they continue to experience rapid growth, they are seeking a forward-thinking, execution-focused Director of Finance to lead the financial operations and support the next stages of growth.

Responsibilities of the Director of Finance include:
  1. Financial Strategy & Planning: Design and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s goals, drive long-term growth, and support major business decisions.
  2. Financial Systems & Process Improvement: Improve and streamline financial systems, tools, and workflows to support accuracy, efficiency, and scalability as the company grows.
  3. Financial Reporting: Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing insights to the Board and executive team.
  4. Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget process and rolling forecasts, including the development of financial models, variance analysis, and scenario planning.
  5. Team Leadership: Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team. Identify talent needs and create structure, training, and performance expectations to support excellence.
  6. Cash Flow & Risk Management: Monitor short and long-term cash flow and working capital. Identify financial risks and implement mitigation plans to protect business continuity.
  7. Cost Optimization: Analyze financial performance to uncover areas of inefficiency or overspending. Recommend and implement strategies to improve profitability across all business functions.
  8. Tax Planning: Lead tax strategy and filings, working with external advisors when necessary.
Job Requirements:
  1. Experience: 5+ years in financial leadership roles, with proven success in high-growth environments. Experience in inventory-intensive industries such as retail, e-commerce, or manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  2. Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred.
  3. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modeling, reporting, budgeting, and planning. Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., ODOO) and financial tools.
  4. Leadership: Demonstrated experience building and leading finance teams, implementing process improvements, and creating high accountability cultures.
  5. Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect financial insights to broader business strategy. Skilled in identifying opportunities for growth and optimization.
  6. Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to distill complex financial information into actionable insights and communicate effectively across departments.
