Location: Lakeshore, ON.

Wage:$130,000 – $160,000/year + bonus + comprehensive benefits package. Three (3) to four (4) weeks vacation to start.

Job Description

The Director of Finance will lead and oversee all financial aspects of a dynamic manufacturing organization. This position is responsible for financial strategy, planning, and analysis to drive performance, efficiency, and profitability. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in manufacturing cost accounting, operational finance, and capital planning. As a key member of the leadership team, this role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and production to align financial goals with business strategy.

Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:

  • Managing the preparation of all financial reports
  • Financial statement analysis with presentation to senior leadership
  • Working closely with the Corporate Planing Manager to direct and coordinate all financial planning and budget management functions
  • Participating and leading cross-functional teams across the organization to develop and execute financial strategies that align with corporate goals
  • Leading the revenue recognition computation, analysis and review
  • Managing all tax compliance requirements for both Canada and USA
  • Recommending and monitoring of benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
  • Ensuring compliance with local, Provincial/State and Federal reporting requirements
  • Designing, establishing and maintaining an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the departments goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
  • Serving as primary government liaison relative to financial issues and tax reporting activities
  • Coordinating financial audits and providing recommendations for procedural improvements
  • Overseeing and supporting a strong internal control environment
  • Representing the company externally to government agencies, auditors, bankers, legal, insurance, pension and benefits representatives
  • Recruiting, training, supervising and mentoring department staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • CPA is required
  • Degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Minimum ten (10) year’s experience in a Senior Financial role within a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), auditing and financial statement preparation with note disclosure
  • Experience with Canadian and US corporate taxation preparation
  • J-SOX or SOX experience would e a benefit
  • Experience establishing internal controls and developing policies and procedures
  • Firm understanding of percent of completion and revenue recognition as applied to project-based manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with long-term construction contracts, bonds, liens, creditor insurance
  • Proven skills managing projects acting as agent for change, stream lining processes, creating efficiencies and strengthening internal controls
  • Ability to problem solve, analyze complex issues, develop appropriate action plans and deliver the results in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to break down costs, interpret financial data and identify opportunities for efficiency and savings
