About The Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Finance to oversee all financial activities within our publicly traded company. This leadership role combines strategic oversight with active participation in daily financial operations. You will manage internal financial operations—such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, profit and loss (P&L) reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis—and customer-specific financial services related to our lottery program, including reconciliation, expenses, and draw reporting.
Ideally, you will havea financial designation (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) and havedeep experience in both the corporate finance and regulatory environments, including the specific demands placed on publicly traded companies.
Your Day To Day:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a high-performing team of finance professionals, setting clear expectations and fostering continuous professional development.
- Oversee all general accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger management, and the preparation of financial statements.
- Manage timely and accurate financial reporting processes (monthly, quarterly, and annual), including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and all regulatory standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor financial policies, procedures, and internal controls in collaboration with the Controller to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring full compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, partnering with departmental leaders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct financial analysis and scenario planning to identify business drivers, trends, and opportunities for improved profitability and operational efficiency.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership, supporting business planning, capital allocation, and risk management.
- Oversee and ensure accuracy in specialized financial processes, such as customer lottery reconciliations, expense tracking, and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial objectives with operational activities and support customer and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics for the finance team, ensuring departmental goals are met and a culture of continuous improvement is maintained.
- Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, facilitating audit preparation and ensuring timely completion.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation to support audits and regulatory reviews.
What You Can Bring To The Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional financial designation (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum of 9 years in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a management or Controller role.
- Strong proficiency in financial software (ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills; knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Proven experience managing and developing finance teams, with excellent organizational and people management skills.
- Ability to conduct detailed financial analysis, develop actionable insights, and communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Familiarity with financial regulations relevant to both internal operations and client-based activities, particularly for the nonprofit or gaming sectors.
