Job description

Director of Finance | Aurora, ON (4 Days Onsite)

Looking for more than just another Controller or Director of Finance role?

What if your next opportunity gave you the chance to influence the direction of a growing business, build a stronger finance function, and work alongside a leader who genuinely trusts and empowers their team?

I'm partnering with a successful, family-owned organization that is looking to hire a Director of Finance to support the next phase of its growth. Reporting directly to the VP Finance, you'll be joining a collaborative leadership team where your expertise will be valued, your ideas will be welcomed, and you'll have the autonomy to make meaningful improvements across the finance function.

This isn't an organization looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo.

They're looking for someone who enjoys asking "How can we do this better?"—someone who isn't afraid to challenge existing processes, strengthen controls, mentor a team, and build a finance function that can support continued growth.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll provide leadership across multiple operating companies while overseeing:

  • Financial reporting and month-end close
  • Inventory accounting and costing
  • AP, AR, payroll and cash management
  • Internal controls and compliance
  • Process improvements and ERP optimization
  • Team leadership and mentoring
  • Cross-functional business partnering with operational leaders

This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical accounting expertise with operational finance and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

You likely bring:

  • Experience leading and developing finance teams
  • Strong controllership and financial reporting experience
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • Inventory accounting experience within distribution, building materials, manufacturing or a similar environment
  • A passion for improving processes, leveraging systems and creating efficiencies
  • A collaborative, practical leadership style

Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys building rather than simply maintaining.

Why This Opportunity?

An exceptional leader to learn from. The VP Finance believes in hiring talented people, giving them ownership, and providing support when it's needed—not micromanaging every decision.

Real influence. This role was elevated from Manager to Director because the organization recognized it needed a stronger finance leader who could challenge existing processes, implement improvements, and help shape the future of the finance function.

Growth-oriented environment. The company continues to invest in its people, systems and operations, creating an opportunity to make a lasting impact while growing your own career.

Family-owned culture. If you've enjoyed working in entrepreneurial environments where collaboration, accountability and practicality matter more than hierarchy, you'll feel right at home.

Location
  • 4 days onsite / 1 day hybrid
  • Competitive salary, bonus, comprehensive benefits and three weeks' vacation

If you're looking for an opportunity where you can contribute strategically, lead a strong team, and help build something meaningful, I'd love to connect.
