Job Summary

The Director of Engineering & Technical Services is accountable for the effective delivery of maintenance & engineering function for all facilities across the organization. The key responsibilities are ensuring the level of reliability required to attain planned production levels while containing costs through the employment of the most effective maintenance resources. This position will lead equipment reliability and functionality to support the achievement of uptime and productivity targets while ensuring the delivery of cost, health & safety, environmental, quality, and human resource objectives are met. The director will further ensure compliance with Corporate Principles & Guidelines and applicable State, Provincial and Federal legislation.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated success in leading change and driving improvement.
  • Ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of the overall maintenance, engineering and reliability processes and activities in order to assure maximum equipment reliability and assets preservation.
  • Lead process flow development across Pure Flavor facilities.
  • Development and launch of Standard Operating Procedures company wide.
  • Lead, manage and train on equipment troubleshooting.
  • Lead and oversee machine and equipment installations.
  • Direct and facilitate Technical Labour (Direct and Indirect labour).
  • Complete technical facility assessments across all locations.
  • Develop and launch facilities layout creation (AutoCAD).
  • Lead takt time studies across all locations.
  • Ensure all planned capex, maintenance and reliability projects are implemented on time, on budget and meet the stated objective.
  • Leveraging LEAN Maintenance Principles to design, implement and foster sustainable predictive, preventative, asset care programs and equipment downtime to ensure equipment is functioning at optimal levels for optimal operational success.
  • Lead, develop and deliver a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Reliability & Engineering approach that is scalable to meet the needs of a fast-growing company with sizable expansion plans.
  • Ensure capital, maintenance and repair budgets are prepared, met and variances explained with appropriate action taken as required.
  • Ensure that your team takes health & safety considerations with a paramount approach in the day-to-day execution of their work.
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned by the company.
Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in a technical field required – bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of maintenance experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in a GMP (food grade) facility considered an asset.
  • Experience in 5S & LEAN methodologies that improve equipment uptime, reduce time, motion, and overall waste.
  • Demonstrated success developing, implementing & optimizing reliability maintenance systems and processes.
  • Excellent leadership skills that include a proven ability to coach and develop team members to a higher level of performance.
  • A strong background in developing and managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing and problem-solving ability.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
  • Must be an influential leader with a collaborative management style and ability to motivate others.
  • Must possess the drive and energy to fit into a fast-paced, high-growth culture with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
Work Environment
  • Hours of work may vary and can include Saturdays where operations require.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, etc.
  • This role operates in a hot, humid environment, where temperatures range from 90-100°F or more depending on the time of year. Occasional work within a refrigerated packhouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation.
