Job Title: Director of Engineering

Reporting to the VP, Construction and Engineering, the Director of Engineering is accountable for the detailed engineering and construction interfaces with the Skeena Gold and Silver's Eskay Creek infrastructure. This is a leading role to manage a cross-functional team of Skeena employees and Consultants, to deliver the Eskay Creek project engineering within time and budget expectations. This role will report to the VP, Construction & Engineering and will include significant interaction with Skeena’s Environmental & Regulatory Affairs team. Essential skills include EPCM/EPC project execution, holding teams accountable, strategic thinking, leadership, effective communication, interpersonal skills, integrity and transparency, cost control, planning/scheduling, key quantity tracking, estimating & document control, scheduling, reporting, estimating and budgeting for the Eskay Creek Revitalization project to ensure a cost effective and efficient delivery.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

1. Manage the engineering design for various areas of the Eskay Creek Project, specifically the process infrastructure, non-process infrastructure and associated facilities, tailings facility, and power supply/distribution.
2. Responsible for effective project controls, consultant accountability, budget and schedule aligned to the recently completed Feasibility study business case.
3. Align and demonstrate Skeena values of safety and sustainability.
4. Lead an on-site team of engineers, supervisors and technical support personnel in completing assigned scope within committed timelines and budget.
5. Ensure that all aspects of the Project implementation adhere to Skeena policies, procedures, Health & Safety, Environment and Community standards.
6. Manage the overall relationships with multiple contractors, specialist contractors, consultants, and various stakeholders.
7. Provide regular updates to the leadership as well as work closely alongside senior management.
8. Participate in the preparation, evaluation, recommendation, and award of contracts, including preparation of scopes of work, requests for proposals, schedules, cost estimates and qualified bidder lists.
9. Identifies critical path issues and ensures plans are in place to meet key schedules and deliverables.
10. All other related duties.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, or a related field.
2. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).

Experience / Skills:

1. Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with at least 5-7 years in a senior engineering leadership role, ideally in a New Build Construction environment.
2. Strong computer skills using MS office suite is required.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Has demonstrated strong leadership skills.
5. Must possess very strong attention to detail.
6. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently as needed.

Work Location & Conditions

This role will be split between time spent at the Vancouver Corporate office and the Eskay Creek site in Northwest BC. A significant amount of time each month will be spent at site, and it is a requirement of this role. This job requires the incumbent to be able to work away from home and to be able to travel to different work locations or events outside of regular office hours as well as traveling to Skeena’s remote project sites to collaborate with internal and external parties.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CA$200,000 - CA$240,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
