Position Description: The Director of Content Partnerships leads a new, exciting effort for Nine PBS known as the Media Collective, which brings together Nine PBS producers and resources with media outlets, independent journalists, and content creators to collaborate on issues impacting the St. Louis region. Working alongside the Senior Director of Content and Vice President & Chief Content Officer, this position leads the strategic development of external content collaborations, manages the content pipeline from inception to completion, and ensures the goals of the Collective are in alignment with helping the St. Louis region flourish. This position directly supervises producer/reporters and works cross-functionally to integrate community learnings with innovative storytelling through Nine PBS and partner platforms.

Primary Responsibilities: The following primary responsibilities are vital to successfully meeting the expectations of this position in an effective and efficient manner. This is not an exhaustive list, and areas of focus may fluctuate between the primary and secondary responsibilities, as needed.
-Identify, evaluate, and cultivate strategic partnerships with media outlets, independent journalists, and content creators that align with the goals of Media Collective.
-Lead and supervise producer/reporters, providing guidance and ensuring professional development opportunities.
-Negotiate partnership terms, contracts, and collaboration frameworks with external content creators, publishers, and media organizations.
-Manage partnership project timelines, resource allocation, and milestone tracking to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
-Work alongside the Director of Community Engagement to identify community needs for convenings and cultivate a healthy content pipeline.
-Collaborate with Senior Director of Content and Senior Managing -Producer to ensure opportunities for alignment and distribution strategies.
-Develop and implement content and partner strategies that align with Nine PBS audience and platform goals.
-Coordinate partnership content plans for community initiatives in coordination with Community Impact and Evaluation teams.
-Study partnership performance data to recommend shifts in strategy and tactics.
-Provide regular updates and recommendations for partnership implementations across digital and broadcast platforms.
-Work closely with the Senior Manager, Digital Analytics, to understand performance trends, data, and platform effectiveness.
-Collaborate with content team on partnership-driven digital experience opportunities and experiments.

Secondary Responsibilities: These are additional activities that are expected to be performed with this position.
-Serve on the Nine PBS Operations team, contributing to a collaborative cross-departmental environment.
-Maintain PBS Editorial Guidelines and Standards.
-Ensure partnership content is diversified and meets target audiences where they are.
-Understand industry-wide partnership trends and changes to determine timely calibration/recalibration for Nine PBS.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is optimal alongside 7-10 years of experience in Journalism, Media, Production, Communications, or other related fields. Demonstrated experience leading teams. Experience in community engagement or audience development preferred. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other MS Office applications, project management tools, and Microsoft 365.
-Proven track record of successfully managing complex partnerships and multi-stakeholder projects.
-Strong negotiation skills and experience with contract management.
Ability to anticipate challenges and recommend solutions in partnership contexts.
-Efficient project management skills with experience in partnership coordination and holding staff accountable to timelines and deliverables.
-Effective problem-solving skills in collaborative environments.
-Ability to handle multiple partnership projects, with a focus on detail and follow-up.
-Highly organized team player who is committed to the mission of Nine PBS.
-Must meet deadlines, stay organized, and think strategically about partnership opportunities.

Hybrid Schedule: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, typically working 2-3 days in office each week, while maintaining open and clear communication with supervisor. On-site work is expected for team meetings, monthly staff meetings, key organizational events, and partner meetings. Must be present and representative for content partnerships team, where needed.
