As we grow our residential portfolio, we are seeking a seasoned Director of Construction – Ontario to lead operations with a strong focus on low-rise and mid-rise residential builds

Position Overview

The Director of Construction – Ontario is a senior leadership role accountable for the successful execution of residential and ICI projects across the province. Reporting to the Executive VP of Construction, the Director will oversee project management, field operations, client relationships, and business development efforts. This role requires deep expertise in residential construction, strong working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC) and health & safety legislation, and a demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution and delivery of residential and ICI projects across Ontario, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Oversee all phases of construction from pre-construction through closeout.
• Manage, mentor, and support a team of Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and technical staff.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, trades, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other applicable provincial and municipal regulations.
• Collaborate with Estimating, Finance, Procurement, and HR to support operational efficiency and project success.
• Monitor project risk and lead resolution strategies for complex site or stakeholder issues.
• Actively participate in business development by identifying new residential opportunities and supporting bid strategies.
• Champion a positive safety culture and ensure COR-aligned safety practices across all job sites.
• Provide operational support to project teams during high-volume periods or as a backup for senior Project Managers.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications :

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Gold Seal Certification (GSC), PMP designation, or equivalent leadership certification is strongly preferred.
• LEED accreditation, COR / CSTS certification, and health & safety training are considered assets.
• In-depth knowledge of Ontario Building Code and OHSA legislation is essential.

Experience and Skills :

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Ontario construction industry, including 5+ years in residential construction leadership.
• Proven success leading low-rise and / or mid-rise residential projects, including site servicing, framing, and finishes.
• Experience in both ICI and residential project environments is an asset.
• Strong communication, leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
• Valid Ontario G Class Driver’s License with willingness to travel to project sites across the province.
