About THE Director Of Business Development

TAG Hardware is looking for an experienced business leader to provide management expertise across business development, product programs, sales, and marketing, including leading the Business Development (sales) and Marketing personnel.

TAG Hardware has dynamic leaders across the company, and they are seeking another dynamic, modern leader to champion their market-defining products. As a self-starter, you excel at identifying gaps and devising solutions to bridge them. You grasp the significance of TAG Hardware's products in the marketplace, adeptly analyze sales data, measure results, and act on insights in real time. Your ability to drive success stems from knowing precisely which changes to implement and which levers to pull to achieve desired outcomes.

You are a detail-oriented team player with sound decision-making skills, thinking and acting like a business owner who continually seeks new methods and tools to optimize process effectiveness. You will be comfortable with forecasting and strategic planning from conceptualization to implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual strategic sales plan with forecasting, KPIs and goals to support TAG’s long-term growth strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the plan’s success via monthly progress reports, course correct as needed.
  • Identify, plan, and implement sales and marketing programs that exceed expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Work with the Business Development Managers to establish, maintain, and nurture relationships with customers, including identifying product development ideas, new business opportunities, and partnerships.
  • Engage directly and indirectly in the selling process as required by assisting with complex sales negotiations, attending sales conferences, and closing sales deals.
  • Develop and continue to maintain strong long-term customer relationships based on mutual respect, trust, customer service, responsiveness, and a “can do” attitude.
  • Manage and support the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process from launch to phase-out, with actions to support each phase.
  • Ensure the team delivers excellent product support to customers at every stage, through training and mentoring the skills necessary to grow the business.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the current competitive landscape to ensure TAG is well positioned to compete globally.
  • Deliver on key accountabilities and responsibilities that will improve the TAG Brand, consistently on time and on budget.
  • Establish and maintain a performance management and coaching culture within the TAG Team.
  • Foster a corporate environment that promotes ethical practices, customer focus, and superior service to its customers.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education, ideally in business, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Visionary leader with the ability to think laterally, creatively, analytically, technically, and strategically.
  • Experience in creating strategic business development plans, including market analysis and identification of target clients.
  • Proven ability to manage a sales and marketing team, including setting and monitoring KPIs and providing mentorship.
  • Public speaking experience, including delivering pitches to large audiences, potentially comprising hundreds of listeners.
  • Proven track record of enhancing or implementing CRM systems.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Possesses strong decision-making abilities, understanding what is vital in the present and future.
  • Exceptional skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Committed to quality with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Adaptable to changing organizational needs and business directions.
  • Exemplary work ethic, displaying top-notch interpersonal, people management, and leadership skills.
  • Skilled in diplomatic negotiations, able to create “win-win” situations.
  • Outstanding communication capabilities, including verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, customer service, and relationship building.
  • Maintains a positive “can-do” attitude, encouraging others, serving as a role model, and ensuring things get done.

  • Competitive base salary of $150,000 to $200,000 + profit share. Please note that we expect the on-target earnings to be more than $200,000, with the opportunity for continued financial growth.
