Overview
Our client is a leading player in the aerospace sector, providing highly specialized services and solutions to government and commercial customers worldwide. They are seeking a Head of Sales to lead revenue growth, expand customer relationships, and strengthen their presence in aerospace and defense markets.
This is a senior leadership role, reporting to the executive team, with responsibility for building and executing the sales strategy, leading a team of sales professionals, and managing key accounts with government and defense customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the sales organization to achieve growth targets across aerospace and defense programs.
- Define and implement sales strategies to capture new contracts, expand existing accounts, and drive market share growth.
- Manage the full business development lifecycle, including opportunity identification, bid strategies, proposals, and contract negotiations.
- Build strong relationships with senior government stakeholders, defense agencies, and prime contractors.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (programs, engineering, operations) to ensure alignment between customer requirements and company capabilities.
- Establish and manage reporting, forecasting, and performance metrics to provide visibility to executive leadership.
- Develop and mentor the sales team, creating a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
- Actively participate in strategic planning and contribute to long-term corporate growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in senior sales leadership, ideally as a Head of Sales, VP Sales, or equivalent, in a complex technical or regulated industry.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar contracts and long-cycle, complex deals.
- Strong knowledge of government procurement, RFP processes, and contract negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing sales teams, with experience coaching and mentoring Account Executives.
- Excellent communication skills with a history of engaging at the C-suite and senior government levels.
- Ability to develop and execute a sales strategy that delivers sustained revenue growth.
- Hands-on experience with avionics, comms, and radar systems design, development and installation
- Strong experience with Aircraft Modification and Electrical Systems is a must-have.
- Aerospace, defense, or adjacent industry experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or sales / leadership certifications are an asset.
