Job Description :

• Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including fixed assets, revenue, accounts payable, joint venture accounting, and general administrative expenses.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a large accounting organization of 100+ professionals, building technical strength and ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting.
• Oversee and analyze assigned accounts to ensure adherence to GAAP and SEC guidelines, including assessing the impact of current and emerging accounting standards.
• Contribute to the timely preparation and review of monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Manage key components of the monthly close process, such as recording accruals, estimates, and necessary journal entries.
• Draft and review financial statement footnotes and disclosures required for quarterly and annual SEC filings.
• Develop, update, and document accounting policies and internal procedures to strengthen consistency and compliance.
• Assist with financial system enhancements and process improvements aimed at increasing efficiency and accuracy.
• Play a key role in maintaining internal controls in alignment with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirements, ensuring controls effectively mitigate risks related to financial reporting accuracy and completeness.
• Support the design and continuous improvement of control frameworks, including both entity-wide and transaction-level controls.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives, offering financial insights and recommendations to support business objectives.
• Lead and participate in external audit engagements and ensure readiness for quarterly and annual audits.
• Provide financial insights to senior management by analyzing key metrics, trends, and variances through internal reporting tools.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial data for earnings releases, investor relations materials, and external communications.
• Work closely with the technical accounting team and auditors to conduct quarterly disclosure reviews and identify opportunities for reporting enhancements.
• Conduct benchmarking and disclosure analysis of peer organizations to identify best practices and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the implementation and optimization of internal reporting systems and automation projects to enhance reporting accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.

Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

A minimum of 10 years of combined public accounting and industry experience, specifically within the exploration and production (E&P) sector or Midstream.

At least 5 years in a similar accounting leadership role.

Strong understanding of oil and gas accounting principles, reporting requirements, and transaction processing.

Expertise in technical accounting matters, with advanced knowledge of internal control frameworks and best practices.

Hands-on experience with oil and gas accounting systems and software.

Demonstrated proficiency across key areas of GAAP-based accounting, including :

Revenue recognition, joint interest billing (JIB), accounts payable, property taxes, and G&A cost allocations.

Corporate fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and asset management.

Financial statement analysis, with the ability to interpret and communicate financial performance trends to management.
